A bit of vacation... Part Two

Oh where am I on last post? Oh yes nice little swim to stretch things out after long journey. Because there is no breakfast to eat and we just ate one, I decided to go to seaside for some nice morning stroll before it gets unbearably hot. Once there, and a short 2 minutes later I quickly look for a nice shady area because I can't bear it any longer. Yes, looking for a good spot to build sandcastle! Haven't build one for quite some time now.

Lalita stays with me while others carry on strolling and she helps me to build it. Starting off with the wall. To get enough sand I just dug a trench all around it. I have some experience building it but have no professional training but I still remember some of my PLKN friends ask me 'Did you learn that from some school or something?' I said no, I just love building sandcastles while I just smile to them. I did teach her how to make the wall symmetrical without using any tools, it just need a strong hand and good imagination because she made a rounded wall and crooked one at that.

When the wall is nearly done I switch my focus to the main building while Lalita finished the wall. But the most she did is obviously just talking but it doesn't matter. I thinking building a castle but the wall itself too about half an hour so it take another half an hour to build the main building itself so I sit there for a while looking for inspiration. During that time I just talking and exchanging our personal problems with her. Then suddenly I remember I never build a pyramid before so I quickly dumping sands in the middle of the wall to build one. The end result isn't that good, its more rectangular than square at the base, but at least it looks like a pyramid nontheless although when I look at the picture back it looks kinda small.

After that is done, I take a bit of short walk along the coastline just to see what's on the other side, but there is a construction dozer taking some earth from a boat so my walk just ends there. I snap this pics in front of the resort
I like this place, apart from the sound of construction dozer the place is quiet, but the forest behind the resort have an unusual loud pitch of something, at first I thought its the water heater from the resort but when I try to pinpoint where the sound comes from it's somewhere inside the forest. My guess is its some type of cicada, I heard of such pitch before but this one is unbearably noisy, even inside our room with all the door closes the noise is still there. It's kinda scary but because the sound is consistent without changing pitch it soon become unnoticeable. Pictured below is the rusted boat where the earth being moved by the dozer to the mainland

Later that evening all of us plan to go to the other side of the island because the seaside of our resort is full of mud thanks to the construction going on. Thus its a bit of jungle tracking going on, climbing hills and stuff. The noise of cicada getting louder and louder, at least there is trail to follow so it's easier to cross the island rather than to forge our own way. The tall grass and small trees are a common sight on the trail.

The hills are pretty steep, and I'm not the kind of person with huge pool of stamina so its quite a challenge since I just swim few hours back. I did take a picture of the view from hilltops overlooking the other side but because its just a phone cam it didn't really capture what I actually see. Quite disappointed because the view is amazing. But this is how it looks like. The overblown bloom in the middle is actually the seaside.

Once we got there, the view is breathtaking. It's just like I looked in brochure of the most seaside holiday; white sandy beach, blue clear water and nice blue sky, see for yourself, its just amazing. Its a contra from the seaside on the Arwana resort. I about to know that this is called Perhentian Island Resort so I take a mental note on that next time I visit this island

Few of my friends without waiting goes directly to the  water and swam, but for me it's still way too early, its about half past 4 in the evening so its pretty hot and I don't want to get excessive sunburn. After taking a breath for a few moments all of us goes to the left of the picture, where there is some shades. Its quite far actually, we need to climb few stairs to get there and to make matter worse, once we got there the area is filled with dead coral on the shore. It's not a comfortable place to walk on bare foot. The coral goes all the way to the sea so I thread lightly to the water. I haven't been swimming in the sea for quite some time, I can't remember when is the last time I did but I'm in for a surprise, its much better to train to swim in the sea than in the pool. I occasionally go to public pool near PICC (at least once a week) to practice swimming but over here I feel like its at least twice as easy. Its easy for me to stay afloat, and easy for me to swim around. It's all thanks to the saltiness of the water I guess, but this comes at a price, this salt actually hurting my nose when it gets in, and swallowing them isn't good either. Too bad there is some irresponsible individual throwing some watermelon skins, pineapples to the sea and there is some plastic containers as well. Such an eyesore on such pretty seaside. Me and dear friend Afif done a bit of cleaning by throwing those away from the sea then we start swimming.

Wearing my own goggles I could see, even quite close to the shore, tons of fish underneath the waves, and I'm not even going snorkeling yet! Seeing little fish swam around is a treat but I didn't dare to swim all the way. There is few big dark dead coral that we could stand few meters away but because I don't rent the snorkeling set I don't dare to go that far. But I glad I don't because one of my friends get stung by jellyfish. The semitransparent nature of jellyfish makes it hard to identify them in the waves. I take this as a warmup for tomorrow big snorkeling day. Funny thing is the fish bit one of my friends pants till its ripped a small hole! Luckily the fish don't have any interest to bit me.

For the time being I just wanted to relax and enjoy the view. I'm having fun on this that I forgot to take any pics. On the way back I volunteered to treat these guys taking a boat back to our resort because first we all very tired, and one of us having toddler too so it's not good to go back in the forest this late in the evening and secondly I just too lazy to walk anyway. it's not much but it's a fun evening with all my friends.

To be continued....
